Saint FM’s five-year licence runs out in November and the station will be taken off the air unless extra funding can be found.

Station manager Sandra Amey-Martin said: “I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved at the radio station.

“We do a lot of training with pupils from both the secondary schools in the Maldon District and give a loud and local voice to community groups and charities and I think that will be greatly missed if the station closes down.

“The licence runs out at the end of the year and we have until the end of May to apply for another one.

“The station costs around £35,000-a-year to run and the board has unfortunately decided not to back us for another year.

“We’re all absolutely gutted and there’s a campaign on Facebook to keep us going.

“Obviously if there are any local businesses out there who would like to get involved with this brilliant community project that would be fantastic.

“The station has been part of the community for such a long time now I really do think it would be such a loss for it to be shut down.”

We have Run a number of hands-on training programmes and Saint FM has been the starting place for many local radio careers.

“The Board and I are incredibly proud of all of the work Saint FM has done and the part we’ve played in the Maldon community and if there is anyone who would be able to help we’d love to hear from them.”

Anyone interested in helping the radio station can contact Sandra by e-mailing sandra.martin@saintfm.co.uk

Hi guys,
Just writing on here to let you know I’m back again with Breakfast from half 7 till 10 this morning, exclusively on Saint FM 94.7…
On the show, I’ll take a look at what’s going on events-wise in our calendar, so you’re all clued up on possible things to do over the next couple of days-I’ll be doing that at 25 past 8 and at 9 30.

After 8 o’clock this morning, Rich Tracey (from Tech Show) will be stopping by to talk about his fund-raising overnight broadcast he’ll be doing, tonight here on Maldon and Burnham’s Saint FM.

I’ll speak to John Whittingdale (the local MP for Maldon and Saint FM’s man at Westminster) for our weekly chat about what he’s been doing locally and nationally over the last week, along with his future plans for the week ahead.

Along with all this, you can choose another Topical Tune:

http://web.orange.co.uk/article/quirkies/Man_changes_name_to_Tyrannosaurus_Rex

So if you have any suggestions for a possible track related to the story linked above, as always, I want to hear what it is, before 20 to 10 (the song I like most from all your suggestions will be played at 10 to 10, just before the end of the show).
You can contact me by calling our Burnham studios (based at the Ormiston Rivers Academy) on 01621 785 689, email:

studio@saintfm.org.uk

or you can text in to 84555 (It’ll cost you 25 P in addition to your normal charge and you’ll need to put the word Saint and a space before your message), or leave your suggestions on this blog.

Would love your thoughts regarding Topical Tune suggestions-along with any requests in general-whatever you want will be played, as long as I have it in the studio.

Well must go and get on with last minute preparations for the show now-talk to you at half 7!

Hey people,
It’s Ben here from Wednesday Thursday and Friday breakfast, just letting you know I’m back on-air this morning from half 7 till 10.
Hope you all enjoyed the past few days and you’re ready (and you’ll be tuned in) to my show.
As usually, I’ve got some great music on the programme and the latest news, weather and travel updates.

I’ll have Gordon from Maldon with me in the first half hour, talking about what he’s been doing over the Bank Holiday and his plans for his holiday next week.

At 25 past 8 and half past 9 I’ll have a search through our events guide-and I’ll let you know what’s happening in Maldon and Burnham over the next couple of days.

‘Dead Or Alive’, our regular Wednesday morning Studio quiz, will be on after half 8-and if you haven’t listened previously and are not sure what that’s about, tune in to find out.

Finally, as always I’ve got a topical tune story:

http://web.orange.co.uk/article/quirkies/Hubby_got_lost_after_row_over_cold_soup

If you’re a regular you know how this works-if you have a song that connects to the story, then I want to know what it is! Either leave your suggestions here on this blog (from now on in), email the studio:

studio@saintfm.org.uk

or send a text (to 84555, it’ll cost you an additional 25 pence to your standard network rate and you need the word Saint followed by a space before you write the rest of your message).

I’ll read your suggestions out as the show goes on-and at 10 to 10 (just before the end of the show) I’ll play one of them.
I’d love your emails, texts and blogpost’s regarding any requests as well-as always, you can choose anything.

Well I think I’ve mentioned everything I need too-hoping you can tune in!

Hey everyone,
It’s Ben Kearns here from Breakfast (Wednesdays Thursdays and Fridays, half 7 till 10). First of all, hope you enjoyed the show yesterday-and if you did, hope you’ll be tuned in this morning for another programme.

The show today looks something like this-I’ll have details on what’s going on around Maldon and Burnham at 25 past 8 and half past 9, as I look at the next couple of days of local events…

After half 8, I’ll be speaking to John Whittingdale (MP for Maldon and Saint FM’s Man at Westminster)-as we have our regular weekly chat about his professional duties over the past week and his plans for the next 7 days.

As well as this, I’d like your Topical Tune suggestions:

http://web.orange.co.uk/article/quirkies/Samantha_Brick_in_another_ugly_row

So if you have any ideas for a song related to the story linked above, I’d love your calls, emails, texts and blog comments.

Our phone number is 01621 785 689, you can email me:

studio@saintfm.org.uk

drop me a text to 84555 (texts will cost you 25 P plus your standard Network Rate and it’ll be a waste of money, unless you put the word ‘saint’ and a space before the rest of your message), or you can leave your song ideas on this blog, by leaving a comment.

I’d also like your general Requests-if you have any song you’d like played, the same contact details apply!

The show will be underway in half an hour, hope I can count on you listening to it!

Hi all,
Hope everyone’s well and ready for Saint FM Breakfast this morning from 7 30 until 10, with me Ben Kearns.

On today’s programme, Gordon From Maldon will be on in the first half hour, he’ll be talking about what he’s been doing, along with his plans for the next few days ahead.

At 25 past 8 and half past 9, I’ll be looking at what’s going on in the Maldon and Burnham area, courtesy of our Saint FM Diary.
Our (almost) famous studio quiz, ‘Dead Or Alive’, is on between half 8 and 9 this morning-if you normally tune in, you’ll know exactly how this works-if not, you soon will.

And just before 10 this morning, I’ll be playing one of your Topical Tune ideas and until then I’d like to hear from you:

http://web.orange.co.uk/article/quirkies/Sleeping_brickie_mistaken_for_corpse

So, if you’ve read the story in the link above and you have a song idea relating to it, let me know!

As always, you can contact me on 01621 785 689-that’s our studio number for the Ormiston Rivers Academy in Burnham On Crouch. My email address is:

studio@saintfm.org.uk

drop me a text on 84555 if you fancy (all your texts will cost you 25 P, plus your standard network rate and you will need to put the word ‘saint’ and a space before the rest of your message), or you can leave your suggestions right here, on my blog-as a comment.

Either way, I’d like your Topical Tune suggestions and your requests unrelated to the Topical Tune-if I have your favourite song, I’ll play it!

All that is coming up on today’s show, along with some great music-so hope you can tune in to me, starting in 30 minutes time.
