About Us

SaintFM is a non-profit making community radio station serving the district of Maldon, Essex, broadcasting a wide range of shows on FM and online. We broadcast from our studio in Burnham on Crouch with a second studio located in Maldon.

Our output is focused upon the Maldon District and near borders and includes vital public-interest content relevant to these areas to a depth greater than larger local, commercial radio stations who are unable or unwilling to provide.

We provide the opportunity for local people from all walks of life to participate in the research, production and broadcast of radio programmes, developing skills through dedicated, hands-on learning initiatives and enhancing personal development such as building self-esteem and confidence in public speaking.

We actively support local community groups and activity through on-air promotion and direct engagement via the support of events and public facing activity.

SaintFM supports local talent in the performing arts and media. A number of past volunteer presenters have gone onto forge careers in radio with the BBC and other major broadcast institutions and many local acts are now working professionally having had their careers kick-started and supported by SaintFM. We also support small, local business through the partnership activities and low-cost on-air advertising opportunities.

Fundamentally and central to all our activities is that SaintFM is run by the community we serve for the community we serve, embracing all elements that define that community from individuals to groups to all.

SaintFM was founded in 1999 initially as a micro radio station serving Burnham on Crouch. In 2007, it was successful in obtaining a license from OfCom to broadcast to the whole of the Maldon District on a FM signal as well as via online broadcast.

We broadcast from two studios, one in Burnham on Crouch and one in Maldon Town Centre. Our target area is the whole of the Maldon district although our signal reaches into (and thus benefits) the areas that border the Maldon district.
